Anyhow, let me tell you a bit about myself and what I do.
Making things have been part of my life from when I was little. My mother was a passionate textile maker and my dad used to do handyman stuff. I made clothes, furniture, dolls, hand puppets, you name it. Knitting, sewing, sawing, hammering, anything. I mostly had an idea in my head what I wanted to do and made up the process as I went along. Over the years, when I was studying, having a family, working, I discovered that the quiet and slow processes were my favourites. I realised it that doing slow manual work calmed me right down.
Since childhood I had a mix of ongoing mental health challenges, therefore slow-making was a good way to connect with my self and forget the rest of the world for a while. As a person of little words, expressing my thoughts has mostly been indirect, like reading between the lines, through making creative ‘messages’. It increasingly seems to be this way as the years go on.
Nowadays I see art as medicine, it soothes my nerves and helps me lower life’s unavoidable hurdles.
